கள்வார்க்குத் தள்ளும் உயிர்நிலை கள்ளார்க்குத்
தள்ளாது புத்தே ளுலகு.
(குறள் 290: கள்ளாமை அதிகாரம்)
Transliteration:
kaLvArkkuth thallum uyirnilai kaLLArkkuth
thaLLAdhu puthE Lulagu
kaLvArkkuth –Those that think to thieve and do
thallum – will push away its life
uyirnilai – from its onw body which carries life
kaLLArkkuth – those that don’t thieve ( and stead their chosen penitential path)
thaLLAdhu – will welcome without pushing them away from entering and staying
puthELulagu – (even) the heavenly abode
“Even the ownbody will reject the life of a thieving mind
And the heavens’ll welcome adherent of steadfast kind”
In this last verse of this chapter vaLLuvar says (though in the penitential state) even the body will detest the thieving mind and will make the thieving soul leave it. Those who do not have thievning mind, will not only be celebrated on this earth, the heavenly abode will also welcome and make him stay.
Without the life the body cannot function on its own. But the very fact vaLLuvar says that the body will detest the very soul it is bearing underlines the serious misdeed the thieving is! This verse is also similar to previous verse. In the previous verse, it was said that the thieving person would perish and here it is said that the body wlll detest and remove the life from the abode its providing for the thieving soul.
தமிழிலே:
கள்வார்க்குத் – களவினைக் கருதிச் செய்வார்க்கு
தள்ளும் – உயிரை தன்னிடமிருந்து போக்கிவிடும்
உயிர்நிலை – அவருடைய உயிரைத்தாங்கி இருக்கக்கூடிய உடல்
கள்ளார்க்குத்– களவினைக் கருதாதாரை
தள்ளாது – வராதே என்று விலக்காமல் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளும்
புத்தேளுலகு – வானோர் உலகும்.
இவ்வதிகாரத்தின் இறுதிக் குறள். துறவு நிலையிலிருந்தும் களவாடும் எண்ணம் கொண்டவரை அவருடைய உடலும் வெறுத்து, தன்னை நீங்கச் செய்யும். அவ்வெண்ணம் இல்லாது தூய துறவியரை வாழும் காலத்து இவ்வுலகம் கொண்டாடுவது மட்டுமில்லாது, அவர்கள் இறந்தபின்னும் வானுலகும் வணங்கி வரவேற்று தன்னில் நிலைபெறச் செய்யும்.
உயிரில்லாது உடம்பு இயங்குவதில்லை, என்றாலும், அவ்வுடலே களவினரின் உயிரை தாங்கியிருப்பதை வெறுக்கும் என்றது, துறவினருக்கு கள்ளாமை எத்துணை இன்றியமையாத பண்பு என்பதை அடிக்கோடிடவே!
இக்குறளும், சென்ற குறளை ஒட்டிய கருத்தையே சொல்லுகிறது. கள்ளன்மைக் கருதியவர் அதனாலேயே இறந்துபடுவர் என்ற கருத்தையே இக்குறளும் முன்வைக்கிறது. இதில் கள்ளன்மை உடையவரது (துறவியர்) உயிரை அவரது உடலே வெறுத்து தன்னிலிருந்து நீக்கிவிடும் என்று சொல்லியதுதான் வேற்றுமை.

நீங்கா திருத்துமே வான்
