நோயெல்லாம் நோய்செய்தார் மேலவாம் நோய்செய்யார்
நோயின்மை வேண்டு பவர்.
(குறள் 320: இன்னாசெய்யாமை அதிகாரம்)
Transliteration:
nOyellAm nOiseidhAr mElavAm nOicheyyAr
nOyinmai vENDu bavar
nOyellAm– pain of harm
nOi seidhAr– only to that cause pain to others by harming
mElavAm– will come
nOicheyyAr– Will not do harm or cause hurt to others
nOyinmai– devoid of the evil to hurt others
vENDubavar– desire such state (devoid of evil of harming others)
In this last verse of the chapter, vaLLuvar says, who will and not face the pain of harm, strogly, yet subtly to underline the importance of not causing harm to others. He also concludes by saying those who wish no pain of harm coming to them, should not consider doing harm to others
The verse says: Pain of harm comes only to people that do harmful things to others. Those who desire no pain of harm done by others will never do the same to others. What you sow is what you reap is the adage we have seen as part of the previous verse, which applies here too.
“Pain of harm comes to those indulge in doing harm
Never will do to others that desire to avoid the same”
தமிழிலே:
நோயெல்லாம் – இன்னா/துன்பம் வருவதெல்லாம்
நோய்செய்தார் – இன்னா செய்தவர்க்கே
மேலவாம் – வருமாம்
நோய்செய்யார் – இன்னா செய்யமாட்டார்
நோயின்மை – இன்னா நீங்கிய தன்மை, இனியவை
வேண்டுபவர் – வேண்டுபவர்.
இவ்வதிகாரத்தின் இறுதிக் குறளில், பொதுக்கருத்தாக, இன்னா யாருக்கு வரும், யாருக்கு வராது என்று கூறி, இன்னா செய்யாமையை அழுத்தமாகக் கூறுவதோடு, துன்பமின்மை வேண்டுபவர் செய்யவேண்டியதும், பிறர்க்குத் துன்பம் செய்யாமையே என்று சொல்லி நிறைவு செய்கிறார்.
இக்குறள் கூறும் கருத்திது: துன்பம் வருவதெல்லாம் பிறர்க்குத் துன்பம் செய்பவர்க்கே. துன்பமின்மையை விழைபவர், பிறர்க்கு துன்பம் செய்யமாட்டார். வினை விதைத்தார்க்கு வினையே விளயும் என்ற கூற்றுக்கும், முந்தைய குறளின் கருத்தை அடியொட்டியும் செய்யப்பட்ட குறள் இது.

துன்பமதைச் செய்தார்க்கே! செய்திடார் துன்பினை
துன்பின்மை வேண்டு பவர்
(துன்பம் அதைச் செய்தார்க்கே! செய்திடார் துன்பினை, துன்பு இன்மை வேண்டுபவர்)
