Transliteration:
maDiyilA mannavan eidum aDiyaLandAn
tAaya dellAm orungu
maDiyilA – Not being slothful, slowy, sluggish
mannavan – the ruler
eidum – will attain
aDiyaLandAn – One who measured all three worlds with three steps (vAmanA)
tAayadu ellAm – all that he measured
orungu – together
Lord Vishnu in his vAmanA avatAra measured the all three worlds (heavens, earth and the, world under) scaling with his three steps, just by feet. Such feat is possible for a ruler that works without sloth, says this verse. Without being slothful, will be zeal to accomplish; and with that zeal one can conquer the world is the thought conveyed in this verse.
Already we have seen as a reference in the chapter of zeal about how even the goddess of wealth, consort of Lord Vishnu, the one who sits on Lotus, will always serve the ruler with zeal. “mAdiyilAn thALuLALthAmaraiyinAL”.
There are references in Sambandar thEvAram and Kalithogai for the word use of “thAya” to imply measuring. (“maNNum viNNum thAya aDi aLandAn” – Sambandar, “njAla mUnRaDith tAya muthalvaRku” – kaliththogai).
All the gains of Lord that measured all worlds with his feet,
the ruler without slothfulness will attain together as a feat!
