கெடல்வேண்டின் கேளாது செய்க அடல்வேண்டின்
ஆற்று பவர்கண் இழுக்கு.
(குறள் 893: பெரியாரைப் பிழையாமை அதிகாரம்)
கெடல் வேண்டின் – ஒருவர் கேடுற வேண்டுமாயின்
கேளாது செய்க – அறிவுசால் பெரியோரைக் கலந்து கேளாது வினையாற்றுக
அடல்வேண்டின் – அழிவுற வேண்டுமாயின்
ஆற்றுபவர்கண் – வலியாரை, வினையாற்றல் மிக்க பெரியாரை
இழுக்கு – பிழைத்துச் செய்தால், அவமதிப்பாக நடத்தினால் போதும்
ஒருவர் கேடு வேண்டுவானாயின் (நையாண்டித் தொனியுடன் கூறப்பட்டது), பெரியோரை கலந்து ஆராயாமல் வினையாற்றினால் போதும். அதேபோல், ஒருவன் அழிவுற வேண்டுமாயின், ஆற்றல் மிக்க வலியாரிடம், பெரியாரிடம் பிழைபட நடந்துகொண்டாலே போதும். அழிவு தானாக நடந்துவிடும். இக்குறள் கெடுவதில் உறுதி கொண்டவர்களை நையாண்டியாகக் கூறுவதுபோல் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. மற்றபடி சென்ற குறளிந் கருத்தேதான் இதுவும்
Transliteration:
keDaivENDin kELAdu seiga aDalvENDin
ARRu bavarkaN izukku
keDaivENDin – If someone wants to ruin himself
kELAdu seiga – he shall act on deeds without consulting the great people, scholars.
aDalvENDin – if he wants to completely perish,
ARRu bavarkaN – towards the capable nd the great, he shall
Izukku – commit serious offenses and be disrespectful to them
If somebody desires ruin for himself, let him act without the counseling of knowledgeable and scholaryly elders. If he wants to perish, then he can commit offenses towards the capable persons of great stature. The tone of this verse is rather sarcastic, but for that, the content is similar to the earlier verse.
