கரப்பிலார் வையகத்து உண்மையால் கண்ணின்று
இரப்பவர் மேற்கொள் வது.
(குறள் 1055: இரவு அதிகாரம்)
கரப்பிலார் – தன்னிடம் உள்ளவற்றை மறைக்காத, ஒளிக்காதவர்
வையகத்து – இவ்வுலகத்தில்
உண்மையால் – உள்ளதால்தான்
கண்ணின்று – அவரின் முன்பு நின்று
இரப்பவர் – யாசிக்கின்றவர்கள்
மேற் கொள்வது – யாசித்தலைத் தயங்காமல் மேற்கொள்கிறார்கள்
இரப்பதை இழிவாகக் கருதும் மானத்துக்கு அஞ்சினவர்கள்கூட ஒருவர் முன்பு நின்று அதை இழிவாகக் கருதாமல் இரக்கிறார்கள் என்றால், அவர்கள் தங்களிடம் உள்ளவற்றை ஒளிக்காமல் இருக்கும் குணத்தால்தான்.
இரப்பவர் முன் நிற்கும்போதே, அவர்கள் கேட்காமலேயே அவர்களிடம் தங்களிடம் உள்ளவை இவையென்று ஒளிக்காது வெளிப்படுத்துபவரிடம், இன்னதுதான் வேண்டும் ஒருவர் கேட்கவே தேவையில்லை. தாங்கள் இரந்து வேண்டாமலே, தங்களைப் புரக்குமொருவர் இருக்கும் நம்பிக்கையில்தான் மானத்துக்கஞ்சுபவரும் அவர்முன்பு செல்வார்கள்.
Transliteration:
karappilAr vaiyagaththu uNmaiyAl kaNNinRu
irappavar mERkOl vadu
karappilAr – that do not hide what they have with them
vaiyagaththu – in this world
uNmaiyAl – since they are there (such benolvolent)
kaNNinRu – standing before them
irappavar – those who seek alms
mER kOlvadu – are able to go and undertake seeking (without losing pride)
Even those who fear hurt to their honor would go and seek alms only before benevolent souls that do not hide what they have in possession or in other words being very open about what they have.
When those that seek alms appear befoe them, if a person revelas even without asking what they have, that nature puts the seekers at ease not to even mention what they need. Only because of the confidence that such benolvent souls exist in this world, honorable seekers don’t hesitate to go before them.
“Because there exist, open-hearted, never saying no benevolent
in the world, the seekers that care for their honor are not hesitant”
