வீழப் படுவார் கெழீஇயிலர் தாம்வீழ்வார்
வீழப் படாஅர் எனின்.
(குறள் 1194: தனிப்படர் மிகுதி அதிகாரம்)
வீழப்படுவார் – பிறரால் மதிக்கப்படுவாராயினும்
கெழீஇயிலர் – நல்வினையாளர் அல்லர், நண்பர் அல்லர்.
தாம்வீழ்வார் – தாம் அன்பு செலுத்துபவர், தம் கணவர்
வீழப்படாஅர் எனின் – விரும்பாதவர் என்றால்
இக்குறளில் காதலாழ்பட்ட பெண் தன் கணவனால் விரும்பப்படாதவர் பிறரால் மதிக்கப்பட்டாலும், நல்வினையாளராக, தமக்கு நட்புறவில் இருக்கமுடியாது என்று எண்ணுவாள் எனப்படுகிறது. கற்புடைப் பெண்டிர் கணவனே அன்றி பிறர் சொல்லுக்குக் கட்டுப்படார் என்பது அறிந்ததே. தம் கணவனால் விரும்ப்பப்படாத ஒருவரை உலகே தூக்கிவைத்துக் கொண்டாடினும், அப்பெண்ணைப் பொருத்தவரை, அவர் நல்வினையாளராக இருக்கமுடியாது என்பதே உணர்த்தப்படுகிற பொருள்.
இது தருக்கமுறையில் உடன்பாடு கொள்ளவியலாத ஒன்று. ஒவ்வொரு பெண்ணுக்கும் அவள் கணவன் வாக்கே மறைவாக்கு என்பது ஒரு கண்மூடித்தனமான பேதைமையையே குறிக்கும். தவிரவும் பெண்டிரின் சுய அறிவு மற்றும் சிந்தனையை மறுப்பதாகவும் உள்ளது. இக்குறள் பெண்வர்க்கத்தின் ஒரு பொது நிலைக் கருத்தையே கூறுவதாகத் உள்ளதே தவிர இவ்வதிகாரத்தில் கூட பொருந்துவதாகத் தெரியவில்லை, வேண்டுமாகனால், கணவனைப் பிரிந்த காலத்து, அவள் இவ்வாறு சிந்திப்பாள் என்று கொண்டு கூட்டிப் பொருள் கொள்ளலாம்.
Transliteration:
vIzhap paDuvAr kezhIyilar tAmvIzhvAr
vIzhap padAar enin
vIzhappaDuvAr – though respected by others
kezhIyilar – a person is considered devoid of good deeds and excellence and not a friend also
tAmvIzhvAr – if her beloved
vIzhappadAar enin – does not like that person
If her beloved does not like a person, however much respected, the other person is, as far as she is concerned, that person is devoid of good deeds and excellence and hence can not be a friend; It is repeatedly said that chaste women worship their beloved/husband and would not even look at other men and consider the husbands words as the final authority. For such a woman, it is natural that if her husband does think that somebody is good, then they are bad, regardless of their status in the society.
This is unacceptable logically and implies only a blind faith of a maiden on her beloved; also it tags them to be devoid of independent thinking and intellect. Also this verse itself seems to be a general thought and does not even fit in this chapter as a pertinent one. Perhaps, we may interpret that women think so when they are separated from their beloved to make some sense.
“Though much respected by others, for her, he is devoid of excellence
that who is not liked by her own beloved, and not a person of essence”
