விளியுமென் இன்னுயிர் வேறல்லம் என்பார்
அளியின்மை ஆற்ற நினைந்து.
(குறள் 1209: நினைந்தவர் புலம்பல் அதிகாரம்)
விளியும் – அழியும்
என் இன்னுயிர் – எனக்கினிய என்னுயிர்
வேறு அல்லம் என்பார் – நானும் நீயும் வேறல்ல, ஈருடல் ஓருயிர் என்று சொன்னவர்
அளியின்மை – காதலி மாட்டு அன்பின்மை கொண்டிருப்பதை
ஆற்ற நினைந்து – மிகவும் நன்றாக நினைத்துப் பார்த்து
“பிறிவாற்றாமையில் உழலற்க” என்று அறிவுறுத்தும் தோழிக்கு, காதற்தலைமகள் இவ்வாறு கூறுவாள். “முன்பெல்லாம் நானும் நீயும் வேறல்ல, ஈருடல் ஓருயிர் என்றெல்லாம் அன்பு மொழி பேசியவர், இன்றோ அன்பின்றியானார். அதன் காரணமாக, மீண்டு வந்தாரில்லை, அவர் வருஞ் சேதி பற்றி ஒரு தூதும் கூட இல்லை. அவரின் இப்போக்கினைப் நன்கு ஆராய்ந்து எண்ணிப் பார்த்தே அவ்ருடைய அன்பின்மை உறுதியாயிற்று, அது என் உயிரை அழித்து வருத்துவதுமாயிற்று”.
காதற்தலைவி வேறல்லம் என்று கருதுமியற்கையை கலித்தொகைப் பாடலொன்றும் கூறுவதைக் காணலாம். “பண்டு நாம் வேறல்லம் என்பதொன் றுண்டால் அவனொடு மாறுண்டோ நெஞ்சே நமக்கு”
வில்லக விரலினார் என்பார் பாடிய குறுந்தொகைப் பாடலொன்று, ஓருயிர்-ஈருடல் பற்றி அழகாகச் சொல்கிறது. “குளத்தில் ஆம்பல் அரும்பியுள்ளது. அழகான நிறத்தைக் கொண்ட அந்தக் கொழுத்த அரும்புகளை வண்டுகள் ஊதித் திறந்து மலரவைக்கின்றன. அப்படிப்பட்ட குளிர்ச்சியான நீர்த்துறைகளைக் கொண்டவன் என் காதலன். அவனோடு வாழும்போது, நாங்கள் ஈருடல், ஓருயிர் ஆனோம். அவனோடு இணையும்போது, வில்லை அழுத்திப் பிடிக்கும் விரல்களைப் போல் ஒருவரோடு ஒருவர் இறுகப் பொருந்தி, ஒரே உடலாகவும் மாறிவிடுகிறோம்” அப்பாடலானது:
“பொய்கை ஆம்பல் அணி நிறக் கொழுமுகை
வண்டு வாய் திறக்கும் தண் துறை ஊரனொடு
இருப்பின், இருமருங்கினமே, கிடப்பின்,
வில்லக விரலின் பொருந்தி, அவன்
நல் அகம் சேரின், ஒருமருங்கினமே”
Transliteration:
viLiyumen innuyir vERallam enbAr
aLiyinmai ARRa ninaindu
viLiyum – shall ruin
en innuyir – my precious life
vER(u) allam enbAr – that who said, we are none but two bodies, but one soul
aLiyinmai – now seeing without the same intensity of love
ARRa ninaindu – understanding his present behavior towards me and thinking of that
“Don’t wallow in pain due to his being away” says the friend of maiden in love; to which the maiden says, “Previously he would say loving words that we were just two bodies, but one soul; but today is totally loveless. Only because of that he has not returned, not even sent an emissary; thinking of his conduct, it is certain that he does not love me the same life before, and my life is in ruin”.
“Villaga viralinAr”, a sangam-period poet says through the words of a maiden in love.” This pond is filled with “Ambal” flowers; those beautiful flowers are flocked by honeybees to make them blossom; My lover is from such a land which is abundant with such cool water bodies. When we lived together we were one soul in two bodies; but, when we embraced each other, just like the tightly bow wielding fingers, we would become one body”
“That who said we are two bodies but one soul, is loveless
now; his such conduct has set my life in ruin and hopeless”
