122: (Sharing dreams of night – கனவு நிலை உரைத்தல்)
[Another state or stage of lamenting about the lover that is not with the maiden. Now, the maiden in love is dreaming about her lover and sharing her thoughts about the dreams to her friend, in this chapter. She would worry about what to feed the emissary that came from her lover or complaing what good would it be, if he just came only in dream etc,.)

காதலர் தூதொடு வந்த கனவினுக்கு
யாதுசெய் வேன்கொல் விருந்து.

காதலர் தூதொடு – காதலரின் தூது மொழியைக்
வந்த கனவினுக்கு – என்பால் கொண்டு வந்த, கனவென்னும் தூதனுக்கு
யாது செய்வேன்கொல் – நான் என்ன செய்யலாம் என்று தெரியவில்லையே
விருந்து – விருந்தாய்?
காதற்தலைவி தன் கனவிலே காதலனைக் காண்கிறாள். காதலனைப் பற்றிய நினைவை தன்பால் கொண்டு வந்த சேர்த்த கனவையே தன் காதலனினி தூதனாக எண்ணி, அந்த கனவுக்கு என்ன விருந்து படைக்கலாம் என்று தன் தோழியை வினவுகிறாள், அல்லது தனக்குள் அலமுறுவதாகக் கூறுவது வள்ளுவரின் கற்பனைப் புனைவு.
ஆண்டாளும் கனவு கண்டாள் “வாரணமாயிரம்” என்று தொடங்கி பத்துப்பாடல்களில். அவள் கூட கனவைப் பற்றிச் சொன்னாளே தவிர, கனவையே தன் காதற்தலைவனிடமிருந்து வந்த தூதாக எண்ணிப் பாடவில்லை.
Transliteration:
kAdalar thUdoDu vanda kanavinukku
yAdusei vEnkol virundu?
kAdalar thUdoDu – From my lover, message as emissary
vanda kanavinukku – the dream that came as so
yAdu seivEnkol – what would I do
virundu? – as the feast to the emissary that the dream is?
The maiden in love sees her lover in her dreams. She thinks the dream itself as the emissary of her lover. Now she wonders as to what would be befitting feast for that emissary. She either asks her confidante or wonders within herself in vaLLuvars imagination.
Even the saint poetess AndAL shares her dream with her friends in ten songs starting, “vAraNamAyiram”; but her imagination did not think of dream as an emissary.
What would I offer to the emissary, my nightly vision
As a grand feast for bringing my lover, as its mission?
