வையத்துள் வாழ்வாங்கு வாழ்பவன் வான்உறையும்
தெய்வத்துள் வைக்கப் படும்.
(குறள் 50: இல்வாழ்க்கை அதிகாரம்)
Transliteration:
vaiyathuL vAzhvAngu vAzhbavan vAnuRaiyum
dheivaththuL vaikkAppaDum
vaiyathuL – On this earth
vAzhvAngu – without failing in the duties and virtues of (implied family life as it is the most commonly practiced)
vAzhbavan – who lives (the virtuous family life)
vAnuRaiyum – of heavenly abode
dheivaththuL – among the godheads
vaikkAppaDum –respected and worshipped
This verse states a simple fact that, virtuously lived householders, will be respected as one among the Gods of heavenly abode and worshipped during their life time itself. vaLLuvar completes this chapter glorifying the properly, virtuously lived household life, how it helps the people of other virtuous paths to walk their path without blemishes, and how such householder’s generations will also live gloriously,
The state of Godliness is the desired end state and hence this verse has been the last of this chapter. This verse also implies that when such householder leaves this world and passes away, their place in heavens is assured.
“Living an exemplified life, householder that shines
Is worshipped as one among the Gods of heavens”
தமிழிலே:
வையத்துள் – இவ்வுலகின் கண்
வாழ்வாங்கு – வாழும் நெறி தவறாது (இல்லற நெறியே பொது உலகியல் வழக்கு என்பதால், அதை குறிப்பாகச் சொன்னது)
வாழ்பவன் – வாழ்கின்றவர் (நெறியோடு கூடிய இல்லறம்)
வான்உறையும் – விண்ணுலகில் வாழும்
தெய்வத்துள் – தேவர்களுள் ஒருவரென
வைக்கப் படும் – மதிக்கப்பட்டு வணங்கப் படுவர்
இக்குறள் உணர்த்தும் எளிய உண்மை, நெறியோடு கூடிய இல்லறத்தை வாழுகின்றவர்க்கள், விண்ணுலகின் தேவர்களில் ஒருவரென அவர் வாழும் காலத்திலேயே மதிக்கப்பட்டு வணங்கப்படுவர். இல்லறத்தின் சிறப்பை, அது மற்ற அறத்தோர் அவரவர் வழிநின்று முறையான கடமை ஆற்ற உதவுதலை, அவர்கள் மரபினர் என்றும் மறையாத தன்மையை எல்லாம் எடுத்துக் கூறி, இறுதியாக, அவர்களை தெய்வங்களுள் ஒருவரென வைக்கப்படுதலைக் கூறி இவ்வதிகாரத்தை நிறைவு செய்கிறார் வள்ளுவர்.
இறைநிலையே இறுதி நிலை என்பதால் இதை இறுதிக்குறளாக வைத்தது. இதனால், உலகு நீங்கி வீட்டுப்பேற்றை அடைவதையும் உள்ளுரையாகச் சொல்லியிருக்கிறார்.

நிறைபடு இல்லறம் சீருடன் வாழ்வார்
இறையொடு வைக்கத் தகும்
