வேண்டாமை அன்ன விழுச்செல்வம் ஈண்டில்லை
ஆண்டும் அஃதொப்பது இல்.
(குறள் 363: அவாவறுத்தல் அதிகாரம்)
Transliteration:
vENDAmai anna vizhuchchelvam INDillai
ANDum ahdhoppadhu il
vENDAmai anna – none like being desireless
vizhuchchelvam – the precious wealth
INDillai – in this world
ANDum – Even in heavens
ahdhoppadhu – compare to that
il – there is none
The verse says, there is none as precious as the desireless mind in this world; there is none compare to that even in the heavens. Sometimes, the way the comparison is said, it is made to appear the heavenly wealth that will one will get for being virtuous is superior when none has actually seen it. It is a pure conjecture. Saying that it is superior even to the precious wealth on this world that can be visualized, sensed and even enjoyed, is in a way selling it as a superior good, without showing what it is. Regardless it is a lure that humanity has bought into for long.
Again the desireless is implied to be the route to rebirth-less state.
“None precious wealth like being desireless
in this world as well in heavens, so peerless!”
தமிழிலே:
வேண்டாமை அன்ன – அவாவின்மை போல
விழுச்செல்வம் – சிறந்த செல்வம்
ஈண்டில்லை
- இவ்வுலகில் வேறு ஏதும் இல்லை
ஆண்டும் – வானுலகிலும்
அஃதொப்பது – அதற்கொப்பானது
இல் – இல்லை
இக்குறள், அவாவின்மை போன்றவொரு சிறந்த செல்வம் இவ்வுலகில் வேறு கிடையாது என்கிறது. ஏன் வானோர் உலகிலும் இதற்கு விஞ்சியது ஏதும் இல்லையாம். சில நேரங்களில் யோசித்துப்பார்த்தால், வானோர் உலகே ஒரு பெருஞ்செல்வம்மென்று வருணித்து அதையே எல்லோரும் அடைய வேண்டுமென்று விற்கிற வியாபார உத்தியாகப்படுகிறது. இது வியாபார யுக்தியின் உச்சம்கூட!
பார்க்காதவொன்றை, பார்த்து, உணர்ந்து, அனுபவிக்கக் கூடிய உலகத்துச் செல்வங்களைவிட மேலானாது என்ற பொருள்பட பேசுவது, நெடுங்காலமாக அறநெறி வியாபாரிகளும், வர்த்தகர்களும் வெற்றிகரமாக கையாண்டுவருவது. மனிதகுலமும் இந்த ஆசைத் தூண்டலுக்கு நெடுங்காலமாக் இலகுவாக வசப்பட்டு வந்திருக்கிறது
இன்றெனது குறள்:
வானகமும் வையகமும் காணாச் சிறந்தசெல்வ
மானதொன்றும் வேண்டாமை தான்
(சிறந்த செல்வமானது ஒன்றும் வேண்டாமைதான் என்று படிக்கவும்)
