விரைந்து தொழில்கேட்கும் ஞாலம் நிரந்தினிது
சொல்லுதல் வல்லார்ப் பெறின்.
(குறள் 648: சொல்வன்மை அதிகாரம்)
விரைந்து – தாமதம் செய்யாது
தொழில் – இடும் பணியை
கேட்கும் – விழுமிக் (மேலான பொருளாய் மதித்து) கேட்கும்
ஞாலம் – இவ்வுலகம்
நிரந்து – ஒழுங்குடன் வரிசையாக
இனிது சொல்லுதல் – இனிமையுடன் தாம் சொல்லவேண்டியதை சொல்லும்
வல்லார்ப் பெறின் – திறமை உடையவரானால் (அமைச்சர்கள்)
தாம் சொல்லும் ஏவல்களை முறையாக, வரிசைப்படுத்தி, ஒழுங்கும், இனிமையும் சேர்த்துச் சொல்பவரின் ஏவல்களை இவ்வுலகமானது தாமதம் செய்யாது கேட்டு நிறைவேற்றும் என்பது இக்குறள் கூறும் கருத்து.
அமைச்சர்களுக்குத் தெளிவான சிந்தனையும், தாம் செய்யும் அலுவல்கள் மட்டுமல்லாது, பிறர்க்கு இடும் அலுவல்களை தெளிவாகவும், ஒழுங்குவரிசையாகவும், அதே சமயம் இனிமையாகவும் சொல்லுதல் இன்றியமையாதது. இவன் இடும் பணிகள் இவனால் நன்றாக சிந்திக்கப்பட்டு, ஒரு நேர்த்தியாக வரிசைப்படுத்தப்பட்டு, பணிகளை இலக்குகள் நோக்கிக் கொண்டுச் செல்லும் என்னும் நம்பிக்கையை ஒரு அமைச்சன் ஊட்டவேண்டும். அதையே இக்குறள் அடிக்கோடிடுகிறது.
Transliteration:
viRaindu thozhilkETkum njAlam nirandinidu
sollutal vallArp peRin
viRaindu – without delaying
thozhil – what is ordered by,
kETkum – will listen, respecting as the prime, important, respectable duty
njAlam – this world
nirandu – when properly sequenced
inidu sollutal – and said with nicety and sweetness in ordering
vallArp peRin – if they are capable (ministers)
The words of a ministers who are able to sequence properly their tasks and assign to people with sweetness in their words while extracting works for the assigned tasks, will be taken as gospel and the world will work on them expediently.
Ministers must have clear thinking, and must be able to sequence the tasks when assigning to people, moving towards accomplishment of undertaken goals. In such endeavors, they should also be sweet in their words to encourage people. When the world have the confidence on minister’s ability, then it will act expediently on what he designs and assigns.
