எண்பதத்தால் எய்தல் எளிதென்ப யார்மாட்டும்
பண்புடைமை என்னும் வழக்கு.
(குறள் 991: பண்புடைமை அதிகாரம்)
எண்பதத்தால் – யார்க்கும் எளிதில் அணுகக்கூடிய எளிமை உடைத்தால்
எய்தல் – அடைவது
எளிதென்ப – எளிதாம், இலகுவாம்
யார்மாட்டும் – யாவரிடத்திலும்
பண்புடைமை என்னும் – பண்பு உடையவராக வாழுகின்ற
வழக்கு – நல் வழி.
யாவாராலும் எளிதில் அணுகிச் சென்று பேசக்கூடிய அளவுக்கு எளிமை உடையவர்க்கு பண்பு உடையவராக வாழும் நல்வழியும் எளிதாம். பண்புடைமை என்பது அன்புடனும், நல்ல குடிப் பிறப்போடும், யாவர்க்கும் உதவும் எளிமையோடு இருத்தலால், அஃதுடையோரை பிறர் அணுகி உரையாடுதலும் எளிதாம்.
Transliteration:
eNpadaththAl eidal eLidenba yArmATTum
paNbuDaimai ennum vazhakku
eNpadaththAl – having such simple presence and easily approachable
eidal – to attain
eLidenba – it is easy
yArmATTum – with everyone
paNbuDaimai ennum – to live courteously
vazhakku – in such good stead.
Those who have simple presence and are easily approachable by anyone, it is easy for them to have the virtue of courteousness. Being courteous means, to have compassionate heart, higher birth, and tendency to help others; such people are easy to approach and converse with.
