சூழாமல் தானே முடிவெய்தும் தங்குடியைத்
தாழா துஞற்று பவர்க்கு.
(குறள் 1024: குடி செயல்வகை அதிகாரம்)
சூழாமல் – வினைகளை முடிக்கும் திறனை வேண்டிக் கேட்காமலேயே
தானே – தாமாகவே
முடிவு எய்தும் – அவரை வந்து அடையும்
தங்குடியைத் – தமது குடியை, குலப்பெருமையை உயர்த்தும் செயல்களை
தாழாது – தாமதிக்காது
உஞற்றுபவர்க்கு – விரைந்து முயல்பவருக்கு
தம் குடியின் பெருமையை உயர்த்தும் செயல்களை தாமதிக்காமல் விரைந்து முயல்பவருக்கு, அச்செயல்களை முடிக்கும் திறனும் தாமாகவே, அவர் வேண்டிக் கேட்காமலேயே அவரை வந்து அடையும். இக்குறள் முயற்சி திருவினையாக்கும் என்ற கூற்றினை மெய்ப்பிக்கிறது. எடுத்துக்கொண்ட செயல்களில் ஊக்கமும், செயலாக்க விரைவும் இருந்தாலே, செயல்களை செய்துமுடிக்கும் திறன் தானாகவே வந்து சேரும்.
Transliteration:
sUzhAmal tAnE muDiveidum thangkuDiyaith
thAzhA thunjaRRu bavarkku
sUzhAmal –Without asking the ability and skills
tAnE – on its own
muDivu eidum – those skill will develop in a person
thangkuDiyaith– doing the deeds that will uplift the stature of lineage
thAzhAthu – without delay
unjaRRubavarkku – and attempt expediently
The deeds that will uplift the glory of the lineage, when attempted expediently by a person, the skills and abilities to accomplish the same will automatically develop in that person. After all we are aware of the old adage “muyaRchi thiruvinaiyAkkum..” (Serious and Sincere try will benefit the undertaken.). The eagerness to pursue seriously the undertaken deed, and doing it expediently will fetch the ability to do the task successfully.
