Transliteration:
Inbam kaDalmaRRuk kAmam ahdaDungAl
Tunbam adaninum peridu
Inbam – the ( conjugal) pleasure
kaDalmaRRuk – is to the extent of an ocean
kAmam – the lustful desire to be union
ahd(u) aDungAl – when that same lust torments
Tunbam – the pain caused is
adaninum peridu – much more than the pleasure given by the same lust.
The pleasure derived from the lust for physical union with her man that she is in love with, is comparable to the extent of a vast ocean. But when they are separated, the same lust gives her pale skin and that’s even more painful than the vastness of the ocean, says the maiden. It is also implied that the pain follows pleasure, a reality universally.
“The pleasure of conjugal love is ocean like, vast and deep
But the pain of separation in love is far greater of a trap”
