கண்ணின் பசப்போ பருவரல் எய்தின்றே
ஒண்ணுதல் செய்தது கண்டு.
(குறள் 1240: உறுப்பு நலனழிதல் அதிகாரம்)
கண்ணின் பசப்போ – ஏற்கனவே ஒளி குறைந்து வெளிறிய கண்களோ
பருவரல் எய்தின்றே – மேலும் துன்புற்றது
ஒண்ணுதல் – ஒளி பொருந்திய நெற்றி
செய்தது கண்டு – பசப்படைந்த காரணம் பற்றி
இக்குறள் முந்தைய இரண்டு குறள்களின் கருத்தின் மேலாகப் புனையப்பட்டதாகிறது. கற்பனையோ சற்று மிகையாக இருந்தாலும் சுவையானது. வள்ளுவருக்குக் கொண்டையும், நீள்தாடியும் உள்ளத் தோற்றம் கட்டாயம் தேவையில்லை என்றே உணர்த்துகின்றன. குறளின் கருத்தைக் காண்போம்.
சற்றே விலக, கைகளைத் தளர்த்திய அம்மாத்திரமே நெற்றிச் சுருங்கி ஒளி இழந்ததே! பசப்புற்றதே! நானோ, அவ்வாறில்லாமல், கைகள் தளர, காற்று ஊடாகப் புகவும்தானே பசப்புற்றேன். அவ்வளவுக்கு நான் மென்மையாக இல்லாமல் இருந்திருக்கிறேனே என்று தம்மைத் தாமே நொந்து துன்புறுகின்றனவாம் கண்கள்.
தலைவன் நீங்குகையில் உறுப்புகள் ஒளியும் நிறமும் இழப்பதற்கு ஒன்றின் ஒன்று முற்பட்டு தம்முடைய இயற்கை நலன் அழிவதைக் கூறும் குறள்.
Transliteration:
kaNNin pasappO paruvaral eidinRE
oNNudal seidadhu kaNDu
kaNNin pasappO – already pale eyes
paruvaral eidinRE – became more miserable
oNNudal – that the shining forehead
seidadhu kaNDu – seeing what it did! (how its lost shine )
This verse is built over the ideas expressed in the previous two verses; though seems a bit excess in imagination, very subtly tasteful one. Reading this verse one would feel the saintly look depicted for vaLLur does not fit his amorous expressions.
The moment her beloved relaxed his hands around her, fearing his tight grip would hurt her, the shining forehead went pale worrying that he was ready to leave her; but I became lusterless with pouring tears only after I sensed the breeze between the man and the beloved because of that loosened grip; So think the eyes feeling miserable!
The chapter thus has expressed in the above ten verse, the thought that all bodily sensory organs are competing with one another to show their miserable state and losing their functional lustre, when there is a possibility of separation between the man and his beloved.
Already dimmed eyes feel even more miserable and flip
As the forehead went pale even at sensing the lose of grip
