Transliteration:
thalaippaTTAr – Will attain the heaveny abode, higher status
thIrath thuRandhAr – those who have renounced, relinquised attachments completely
mayangi – with the senses not in control
valaippaTTAr – caught in the illusory web of life
maRRaiyaavar – others
Those who renounce completely all desires and attachments are the only ones that will attain the heavenly abode. Others will be caught in the illusory web of life and the attachments to desires.. Even if there lingers one desire, they will multiply and completely stray the person deviant from the ascetic path. The word “thalaippaTTAr” does not directly mean, it is the heavenly abode, that completely renounced will attain. Most commentators have given a surmised meaning of heavenly abode. A simple interpretation of the word means, attaining higher status in life. This is again an oft repeated thought in these kuraL.
