ஊடலில் தோற்றவர் வென்றார் அதுமன்னும்
கூடலிற் காணப் படும்.
(குறள் 1327: ஊடலுவகை அதிகாரம்)
ஊடலில் தோற்றவர் வென்றார் – யார் ஊடலில் தோற்கிறாரோ அவரே வென்றவராகிறார்
அது மன்னும் – அவ் வெற்றியானது பெரும்பாலும்
கூடலிற் காணப்படும் – பின்னால் காதலருக்கிடையே தோன்றும் கூடலிலேதான் காணப்படும்
ஊடலில் உவகையை வலியுறுத்தும் மற்றுமொரு குறள். கருத்தொருமித்த காதலர் இருவரிடையே தோன்றுகிற ஊடலில், யார் தோற்கிறாரோ, அவரே உண்மையில் வென்றவராகிறார். அவ்வெற்றியை அவர் உணர்வது, அவர்களுடைய கூடும் போது காணப்படும்; கசப்புக்குப் பின் உண்ணும் இனிப்பைப்போல் இனிமையின் அருமையை உணர்த்துவது போன்றாம் அது.
Transliteration:
UDalil tORRavar veNRAr adumannum
kUDaliR kANap paDum
UDalil tORRavar veNRAr – Whoever loses in the love-quarrel, indeed wins evetually
Adu mannum – mostly that win is
kUDaliR kANappaDum – seen in the union when the love-quarrel is made up between lovers
Another verse emphasizing the pleasure of love-quarrel; between two bonded by love, whoever loses in the love-quarrel, indeed wins eventually; he or she realizes when they make up and are in union subsequently; it is like how sweet tastes sweeter after eating something sour.
“That who loses in love-quarrel wins eventually;
that truth is seen only in the union subsequently”
