ஊடுக மன்னோ ஒளியிழை யாமிரப்ப
நீடுக மன்னோ இரா.
(குறள் 1329: ஊடலுவகை அதிகாரம்)
ஊடுக மன்னோ – என்னோடு இன்னும் ஊடுவாளாக
ஒளியிழை – ஒளி பொருந்திய அணிகளை அணிந்த என் காதலி
யாமிரப்ப – நான் அவளை வேண்டி, அமைதிப்படுத்த (பின்பு கூடி முயங்க)
நீடுக மன்னோ – நீண்டு இருக்கட்டும்
இரா – இந்த இராப்பொழுதும்.
இக்குறளில் காதலன் இராப்பொழுது நீடிக்கவேண்டுமென்று விழைகிறான். முதலில் ஒளிபொருந்திய அணிகளை அணிந்த தன் காதலி தன்னோடு கொண்டுள்ள உடலை நீட்டிக்கவேண்டும்; அப்போதுதான் தாம் அவளை வேண்டி அமைதிப்படுத்தி பின் கூடி முயங்குதல் சுவையாக இருக்கும் என்று காதலன் எண்ணுகிறான். அவ்வாறு நடக்க, இந்த இராப்பொழுதும் நீடிக்கவேண்டும் என்று தான் வேண்டுவதாகவும் உணர்த்துகிறான்.
வள்ளுவர் மிகவும் அழகாக “யாமிரப்ப” என்ற சொல்லை இடைச் சொல்லாகப் பொருத்தி, அதைப் பின்வரும் வரிக்கும், முன்வரிக்கும் ஒருங்கே பொருந்துவதாக அமைத்துள்ளது கவனிக்கத்தக்கது. அதாவது தம் காதலி, தாம் வேண்டி அமைதிப்படுத்திக் கூடுவதற்கு ஏற்ப ஊடவேண்டும் என்றும், தாம் வேண்டிக்கொள்வதற்கு இணங்க, இரவுப்பொழுது நீடிக்கவேண்டும் என்று இருவிதமாகவும் அச்சொல் பொருந்துவது அழகு.
Translitertion:
UDuga mannO oLiyizhai yAmirappa
nIDuga mannO irA
UDuga mannO – let be in love-fight
oLiyizhai – my beautiful bejeweled maiden
yAmirappa – for me to plead her (and be in physical union later)
nIDuga mannO – let prolong
irA – this night
In this verse, the lover wishes the nighttime to extend. First, he desires and pleads his bejeweled lover to exten her love-quarrel with him, so that he could pacify her and the subsequent union is more pleasurable; and for that to happen, he also desires and pleads the nighttime to extend.
The placement of the word, “yAmirappa” just in the middle of the verse is so well thought of to fit both the part before and after aptly. In the first part, he desires his maiden to extend the love-quarrel for him to plead to her to pacify so that their union is more pleasurable. In the second part, he pleads the night to extend for him to do what he desires in the first part to happen to his satisfaction.
“Let my bejeweled maiden extend her love-quarrel for me to plead;
and for me to be with her in union, the same of nighttime, I plead.
